(Feb 17, 2009) Obama OKs about 17,000 more troops for Afghanistan
Yes, I agree, we have been floundering in Afghanistan for some time. If were going to get it done there, we need to step it up.
(Feb 17,2009) Obama signs stimulus bill, readies homeowner plan
Once again, sorry, but I really just don't think the whole stimulus idea is very sound. I mean, come on, banks have bad debts, auto makers are in debt, home owners are in debt, and so we are somehow going to save all these debt problems by creating more government debt? I guess I just don't get it.
Besides, I think everyone involved here is neglecting to put any significant effort toward fixing what really caused this whole mess in the first place --- high oil prices. Tell me, what does the stimulus plan do to improve that situation?
(Feb 10, 2009) Obama to Congress- Pass stimulus, don't play games
I'm sorry, but in my opinion, the president is starting to sound desperate now. He keeps saying how he wants bipartisan support, how he has reached out to hear Republican's concerns, and wants everyone's input on the stimulus package. However, at the same time he's chanting over and over, "pass it now! pass it now!"
What, does he think Nebraska is going to implode and turn in to a massive sinkhole by next Friday if Congress doesn't get his precious little bill passed? I thought debate and compromise and negotiation is what he wanted? We are talking about a huge, I mean HUGE stimulus package here! Take your time, work out the details and get it right! We aren't starving. There's no massive lack of the basic needs for life in this country. A recession is a lack of economic growth, NOT a freaking famine! Not everything is how we like it, but we haven't exactly dropped back to the middle ages either. Do the debating, work on the details, plan things carefully, and don't spend any more than has to be spent to achieve the goals we all want so there won't be as much debt to repay in the future.
Relax Big O, they'll get it done eventually. Everyone agrees something needs to be done. Let them get things worked out. You're there for the next four years, you don't have to do everything by next Tuesday. Go worry about Korea or something for a while. The economic situation isn't going anywhere, things are progressing, give it time

Obama executive order favors union labor
I have nothing against workers forming fair unions, but why enact an executive order that gives union labor an advantage over non-union companies? If the union companies can't compete on an open market, that's their tough luck. Don't enact laws that favor one or the other, leave it open to fair market competition.
(2/05/09) President Obama in his inauguration speech, and other speeches given around that time, describe how his economic stimulus plan was not going to be a "quick fix", that it would take time and sustained effort to recovery the economy.
Ok, fine, but why is he now in such a hurry to get his stimulus plan passed and enacted into law? If it's not going to be a "quick fix", then what difference does it make if it's passed this week or next? If taking a bit more time to talk things over produces a better plan, why get in such a big hurry? Why act like something has got to be done "right away or else"?

Obama admin. seeks treaty to cut US, Russia nukes
Considering the amount of nukes both the U.S. and Russia have, a couple thousand a piece, I think that reductions are a good idea. Especially considering that after the first 50 detonations, it really wouldn't matter how many more there were because there wouldn't be anything left anyway.
Going back a bit before I actually started this little game of mine, here are a few things I remember that I'd like to add...
President Obama actually admits that he made a mistake in nominating Tom Daschle for a cabinet position. However, he did not come out of it looking like an idiot, but more like someone who sincerely wants to go now and fix the error and do even better in the future. I like that.
President Obama vows to close the Guantanamo Bay Detention Camp. Now wait a minute, open or closed we are still going to have to do something with those who have been held there, right? Open or closed, we are still going to have to have a facility to hold these types of prisoners, right? So what is the point of closing this place? It's really the policies of how to deal with these prisoners that is in question here not the actual facility. Reviewing the cases of prisoners already held and determining what to do in the future can be done with out wasting the time and money it will take to move people around, close this place, and begin to use another facility elsewhere.
President Obama nominates Hillary Clinton for Secretary of State. Definitely a DOPE on that one, a really, really big DOPE as a matter of fact.
President-Elect Obama tells executive officers of the big three auto makers, "Hey, if you're going to come here begging for money for your companies, don't do it by flying in on corporate jets." Excellent, I loved that comment.
I really did.
Barack
Obama did an excellent job on the campaign trail. He has brought a
new excitement to the office of president and the discussion of politics
that we have not seen for some time. I voted for McCain, but
congratulations anyway, Mr. Obama. You at least deserve that for
all your efforts at getting elected
