Little Smoky Creek is a beautiful place to be, as evidenced by the following pictures. This is what we looked at every day, looking downstream from our dig site.
This draw lay just to the north of where we were digging. Eventually, Lance and I had to take a hike up there. Little Smoky has a serious over-abundance of ground squirrels, so we took guns along and did some shooting along the way. We also came across a good sized, and very blonde, red fox. I'd show you the pictures of me holding his beautifully tanned hide, but well, I totally missed the point blank shot I had, so his hide is still running. We did find some good elk sign, however, and some young --- and really fast --- deer.
Speaking of deer, we scared this doe up one day while taking a break from digging.
And when I say we scared her, well, apparently we really scared her. We scared the you know what out of her, as a matter of in fact.
Here's a couple of pretty shots to help get the squatting deer image out of your head. Sorry about that, but it was a funny thing to see.
We also had a family of ducks that liked to sneak past us a couple of times a day. Lance finally got a picture of them.
